PURPLE!!!!

John Moore awarded me m Purple belt last night. Mat got his yellow, Chris got his orange, Tyler Brady Susane and Zack all recieved their blues. It was a touching moment as John called me out after the testing and thrashing. He explained my accomplishment at Worlds and how much he trusts and values me. A tear came to his eye as he stated that this belt was no mere belt as it was HIS purple belt and that he wanted me to have it to keep the spirit of the school going.

It was nice to have so many promotions and see a great turnout from the school and families and friends. With this belt the time has come to up the intensity two fold,,I want a world title at purple now!!!!

Gearin up for Worlds NoGi

A little over a Wk out from the biggest event of my Grappling Career so far,,,,Worlds International Masters n Seniors NoGi in Long Beach CA on Nov 8th. Been training hard at the Grapplers Lair doin 2-A-Days on my days off combined with my conditioning and power endurance weight trainig. Work days have me gettin up early to knock out the conditioning then race to the Lair then straight to work where I relax HAHAHAHA.

I think my transistions are crisp and my flow is on point. the Cold Fusion Reactor is reaching Optimal levels and my recovery time is better than it has ever been thanks to incorporating a new styl of condition involving a hybrid of the Hurricane and Into Combat conditioning circuits. Along with the recently acquired tractor tire, it makes for lotsa Hurtn. My good buddy and neighbor/fellow training Partner Robert will be going with me.

Cant wait to compete in this event and see some of the best grapplers on the planet compete. Im workin hard to bring back the gold in two divisions. After this event, I get a break unitl NAGA in mid Dec.

Hurtn Machine Tour 09 stop #13 Battle of Htown

Excellent event as always,,,,didnt do as well a I was hoping with 4 divisions 2 in the Gi and 2 in NoGi,,,I wasnt able to find a gold and had to settle with 4 silvers. Competition was tough in all 4 of my listed divisions. My good buddy Fusion Stixx handled the camera and I will get video up soon. Im 2 shows behind on the Jeffro Jiu Jitsu show so I may just go ahead and edit content from this event into a show instead of throwing up matches online.

Next up is the Worlds NoGi International Masters and Seniors in early Nov out in Long Beach California. Training hard and getting ready. Gettin the reactor kickig and the game razor sharp.

Hurtn Machine tour 09 stop #12 TXBJJ Gi/NoGi Championships

Tyler n I rep'd the Lair at the TXBJJ Gi/NoGi Championships on 09/05/09 held in conjunction with the Combative Sports Expo in Fort Worth. Was a TOUGH EVENT!!!! Not a huge turnout but everybody there was on point. I competed n placed Silver in the Masters NoGi, Bronze in both reg Adult Gi and reg Adult NoGi. They didnt have anybody anywhere near my weight in the Masters Blue Belt or Purple Belt Gi divisions so I only rolled in those three.

Tyler took silver in his NoGi div and Gold in his White Belt Gi division. Was gettin over the flu that kept me outta work and outta training earlier in the week so even though I didnt do as well as I wouldve liked,,,eh,,,I was ok with it,,,not happy,,,but ok. It is what it is.

Training good n steady for the Battle of Htown in Houston on the 26th then the Fight To Win event in Oct then the biggun,,,,,,,,,,WORLDS NOGI in Cali!!!! Workin hard n Blade Runnin to keep the Techno Tiger game sharp n shreddin. All systems firin off n kickin!!!! My Hustle is RELENTLESS!!!! BOOM!!!!

NAGA Europa 09

Took silver in NoGi,,had a few good matches with the final going into overtime with me barely losing by points my opponent garnered when he capitalized as I attempted a falling armbar from collar tie that he defended well into getting Knee on stomach thus gaining him the victory. Gi was a bit of confusion,,,,got knocked out of the semi finals when I went for a straighfootlock that was protested by my opponent's coach leading the ref to get confused and force me to break the hold the two times I had it locked in the match. Oh well,,,,I know my game is improving and am OK with my overall performance. Next up is the TXBJJ Championships in Ft Worth on Sept 5th.

Workin hard and the new gameplan is kickin and improving. Shining bright like a freaking Super Nova. Conditioning n strength is on point with the help of the nano tech.

All these events are tune ups for the Worlds Int Masters n Seniors NoGi in Cali in Nov. My hustle is strong.

Jeffro Jiu Jitsu Tour 09 stop #9,,,,TX Police Games

Great event as always. This is the third yr the games have hosted a NoGi and BJJ Tourney and this is my third yr attending. My Uber Coach John Moore was once again in my corner and did an awesome job when he was called upon by the event staff to help set up the brackets and ref. Didnt do as well as I hoped in NoGi, brought home a Bronze but like I said,,,,NOT HAPPY.
In the Gi however,,,I actually was able to have John take a break from ref'n and coach me. I was smooth and crisp,,,My first match went a total of 9 minutes (5min match no score no submission then 2 min OT with the same outcome) I pulled off the my trademark Noose Choke from guard to finish. The bracketing led to a funny situation that had three of us in contention for gold. I opted to go as the bracket was set and have two competitors roll for Gold and I would roll with the loser for Silver (I explained that Im not concerned with bringing home trophies but rather getting experience). Had a nice roll to take silver and went undefeated in the Gi. I was pleased that I was able to do everything John was telling me.
A big thanks goes out to my evil Minion Jess. Her camera work was superb and it was good to have her with me.
I now have a good break until my next event. John and I are gonna go over the new gameplan and get it fine tuned and up to MAX HURTN POWER. When its at optimum levels,,,we will unleash it. This event we implemented it and it worked well so I can only imagine where its gonna lead to.

The Chad James and Jeffro takin other guys' fruit cups at the 2009 TX International Grappling Festival

Chad n I (fresh off of the TOC III in Austin last weekend) went down to Htown this past weekned and did our thing at an AWESOME event. Elbert always puts on a good event and this was no different,,,I liked the fact that the spectators were up and away from the mats giving us plenty of room to relax and hang out in the "PIT". Chad (suffering from a severe groin strain) managed to fight thru the pain and take 1st in his Nogi Int 160 to 179lb div. I was able to take 2nd in my Nogi Int 180 to 199lb div as well as 3rd in the Master's Advanced 180 to 199lb div and 2nd in the Master's Gi Blue Belt 180 to 199lb division. we were both pretty banged up from the week prior but no worries. We got it done for the team and had a blast,,,,Coming soon,,,,Jeffro's Jiu Jitsu Show (an internet based bi-monthly video with excerpts and interviews from training and events). Up next,,,,,NAGA May 9th.

Grapplers Lair takes 4th as a team at the TXBJJ Championships

Excellent Tourney. Chad (his first comp in the Gi) won the mens white belt absolute div in a bracket that had 31 guys in it. Rene took silver in the mens purple belt and gold in the masters purple belt div. Adam took gold in both the mens blue belt hvy weight and blue belt masters hvy weight. I took gold in the mens blue belt 170 to 179lb div and bronze in the masters blue belt 170 179lb div. Damn tough competition. Landed the noose choke three times from the transition from brabo choke Ive been working on. Thanks to the Truth (Stephen Hall) for pointing out a little trick to help sink it. It worked like a charm. Had fun. Groin is shot as well as my fingers. Im shuffling around like a 90yr old. Hurts like all get out but oh well. Next up is the Fight To Win event in Austin on April 11th.

Hurricane Cardio

Hurricane
3 sets of:
30 second sprint at 9 to 10mph followed immediately with
8 reps of deadlift curls (start with your knees on the ground with a palms up grip, hop up to a deadlift position, deadlift the weight then curl the weight, lower the weight down to the ground and back on your knees, that’s 1 rep) followed immediately with 8 overhead presses.
3 sets of:
25 second sprint at 11 to 12mph followed immediately with
8 reps of deadlift upright rows (same as the deadlift curls except you have a palms down grip and after you deadlift the weight you perform an upright row)
3 sets of:
20 second sprint as fast as you can go followed immediately with
6 single arm dumbell deadlifts (6 each arm for a total of 12 reps)
Optimum time for completion of the entire Hurricane is 14 to 16 minutes. A snorkel can be worn during the lifting portion. If using a treadmill, set the incline up all the way.

Victorious at AFC No-Gi Challenge VII

Good event held for local schools. I was slated to do a Superfight against Jarrod's best student Brandon. Brandon proved to be an apt opponent. I took an inadvertant head but to my left brow (looks pretty now) right off the bat. Brandon did well and defended every submission attempt I threw at him. The bout went the entire 10 min with me winning by points (I hate point victories) 9-2. My other team mates that competed all did well and placed in their respective divisions. It was good to have TJ there to coach me as well as have some of my family there also. Now its time for the Animal event. BTW that last pic,,,Im not giving my camera guy the bird,,Im holding my mouth piece in that hand and trying to hold up the certificate Giggle Giggle.
